The Myth About Penis Captivus – Penis Trapped in the Vagina

In Malawi just like other African countries, there is a strong belief in the power of Juju in almost every sphere of life, be it soccer, wealth including romance among others. Most people believe it is possible to put a spell on your spouse so that he or she gets stuck in the process making love. Many people who travel to South Africa to seek for greener pasture are usually believed to use this kind of juju to ‘Lock their wives“. However, contrary to this belief, medical studies conducted on this matter have established that this is a rare condition where a man’s penis becomes trapped within the vagina due to vaginal muscle spasms called “Penis captivus,” also known as “Genital Incarceration. While it sounds like a myth, it is a real, albeit extremely uncommon, phenomenon. The most frequent cause is vaginismus, where the pelvic floor muscles involuntarily contract, narrowing the vaginal opening and preventing the penis from being withdrawn. This is usually observed when dogs are mating, they get locked. Anxiety disorders, childbirth injuries, and prior surgery are some of the factors that cause Vaginismus for Penis Captivus. Vaginismus can make activities like inserting tampons difficult, and it can also interrupt penetrative sex or make it uncomfortable.  Just because many people do not understand the causes of Penis Captivus is is regarded as either a myth often discussed in a humorous light. Reports of penis captivus have been documented in medical literature, including an 1884 case published in The Philadelphia Medical News and later found to be a hoax by Sir William Osler.  In some cases chloroform has been used to relax the muscles and release the penis as treatment. The condition is considered rare, with only a handful of reported cases in medical literature. Witch doctors have taken credit on this issue because it is widely believed that it is the power of juju that causes this to happen. So next time you come across an incident of Penis Captivus, just rule out the possibility of Juju being involved.

Seven Arrested for Immigration Crimes; Released Under Suspicious Circumstances

Department of Immigration in Lilongwe on Thursday arrested 7 Malawians who had wanted to obtain Service Passports to travel to United States for work. The names of the suspects are Mr. Madalitso Kapangazina, Mrs. Maria Chimana, Ms. Sarah Nanthoka, Mr. Stain Ethics Mabere, Chinsisi Richard Phiri, Thandi Aresandra Phiri and Zaithwa Boston Kamanga. The suspects used fake letters from Ministry of Trade and Industry as well as Ministry of Agriculture. The letters indicated them as Directors in these respective ministries. The suspects were taken to Lilongwe Police where they spent a night. Meanwhile, today while Immigration were prepared to take them to court, they received calls from top Government and MCP officials to release them with immediate effect. They have all been released as it is believed that this is masterminded by a party loyalist officers.
